Vatdi vs Tidio
Two chat widgets for online stores. One bills the AI separately, one is the AI.
Quick Verdict
Tidio is a mature live-chat suite whose AI agent, Lyro, is sold as a separate conversation-metered add-on on top of a per-plan price, and its free plan caps you at 50 conversations a month with no AI. Vatdi is an AI agent first: it trains on your product catalogue, pages and policies, answers in 95+ languages, tracks orders for customers and hands over to a human, from $4.49 a month with no per-seat or per-conversation AI charges. If you want Messenger, Instagram and email in one inbox, Tidio does more; if you want the widget on your store to actually answer questions, Vatdi does it cheaper.

The short version
Most people land on this page because they are already paying Tidio and got the Lyro upsell. So here is the part that matters: with Tidio you pay for the plan (Starter from $29/month, Growth from $59/month, as of September 2026) and then for Lyro conversations on top, with a separate cap. With Vatdi the AI is the product. Starter is $4.49/month and Grow is $7.49/month, and neither caps AI replies.
Tidio wins on channels: Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and email all sit in its inbox. Vatdi covers your website and WhatsApp only. If that is a deal-breaker, stop reading here; if your support mostly happens in the chat bubble on your store, keep going.
How the AI actually learns your store
Tidio (Lyro) learns from your FAQ and support content, and you build the rest with flows in a visual editor. It is good at scripted journeys and canned answers. Product-level questions ("does the 42 come in navy, and is it in stock?") need you to wire the catalogue in or write the answer yourself.
Vatdi syncs the catalogue directly from WooCommerce, OpenCart, PrestaShop, Magento, nopCommerce or Shopware (Shopify stores are learned from the storefront), plus the pages and PDFs you point it at, and retrieves the relevant items for each question before it answers. Ask it about a specific product and it answers from that product, with the price and link, in the shopper's language. It also reads order status when the customer gives an order number or email, which is the single most common support question in e-commerce.
We are not neutral here, so verify it yourself: connect a store on the free plan, ask it ten questions your customers ask, and see how many it gets right before you pay anything.
Handover, inbox and the humans on your team
Both products let a person take over a conversation. Tidio has a polished multi-agent inbox with departments, canned responses and a mobile app, and charges per seat on Growth and above. Vatdi's team inbox is simpler: the AI handles the chat until it hits something it should not answer (a refund decision, an angry customer, a question outside your data), then it asks the visitor if they want a human and pings your team with a sound and a browser notification. Teammates join from the same widget your customer sees, and hand the chat back to the AI when they are done. Seats are unlimited on every plan.
If handover requests go unanswered, Vatdi tells the customer honestly rather than leaving them hanging, and records the missed handoff in your reports so you can fix the coverage gap.
What Vatdi costs, exactly
Vatdi has three plans and no per-seat pricing, so adding a teammate never changes your bill. Every plan has every feature; they differ by monthly volume, and only paid plans can remove the badge.
- Free — $0. One store, 15 conversations a month, 100 knowledge items and 200 synced products. Every feature is included — order tracking, human handover, the team inbox, analytics — so you can run it on real visitors before you pay anything.
- Starter — $4.49/month. 150 conversations, 500 knowledge items, 2,000 synced products, and the "Powered by Vatdi" badge can be removed.
- Grow — $7.49/month. Unlimited conversations, unlimited knowledge items, 10,000 synced products, and the "Powered by Vatdi" badge can be removed.
Every plan includes training on your own products, pages and policies, 95+ languages with automatic detection, order tracking, human handover, lead capture and coupons. There is no setup fee and you can cancel from the billing page at any time.
Where Tidio is still the better choice
We would rather you pick the right tool than pick us and churn. Tidio is the stronger pick if you need Messenger, Instagram or WhatsApp in the same inbox, want a visual flow builder for scripted campaigns, or run a support team that lives in a dedicated inbox app all day. Its free plan is also fine for a brochure site that just wants a live-chat bubble with no AI.
Vatdi is built for one job: answering shoppers on your website from your own store data, and handing them to a person when it matters. It does not do Messenger or email ticketing (WhatsApp works through your own WhatsApp Business number), and it is not a marketing automation suite. If your support runs primarily through those channels, keep the tool that owns them and use Vatdi for the website widget, or skip us.
Switching from Tidio takes about ten minutes
There is nothing to migrate. Install Vatdi from the Shopify App Store, the WordPress plugin directory or the OpenCart extension, let it sync your products and pages, paste the answers you already wrote for Tidio into the knowledge base, and remove the Tidio script. Run both for a week if you like; the widgets do not conflict.
Frequently Asked Questions
For AI answers, yes by a wide margin. Tidio's AI agent (Lyro) is an add-on billed by conversation on top of a plan that starts around $29 a month. Vatdi's Starter plan is $4.49 a month and Grow is $7.49 a month; neither caps AI replies. Neither Vatdi plan charges per seat.
Yes. Tidio's free plan gives you live chat with up to 50 conversations a month, but no AI answers. Vatdi's free plan includes every feature with 15 conversations a month, so you can test it on your real store before paying.
WhatsApp, yes — through your own WhatsApp Business number. Messenger, no. If Messenger and a shared social inbox are essential, Tidio is the better fit, or run Tidio for messaging channels and Vatdi for the store widget.
That is the main reason people switch. Vatdi syncs your catalogue and retrieves the matching products, prices and stock before answering, so "is this available in blue?" gets a real answer with a link. Tidio's Lyro answers from your FAQ content and flows unless you script product answers yourself.
Yes. The two widgets do not conflict, so you can run both on the same site for a week and compare the transcripts before removing one.
It offers the visitor a human. Your team gets a sound and browser alert, joins from the same widget the customer sees, and can hand the chat back to the AI afterwards. If nobody answers within your set window, the customer is told so honestly and the missed handoff appears in your reports.
Ask it ten of your real customer questions
Connect your store on the free plan, let it sync, and judge the answers yourself. No card, no call, nothing to migrate.
